Sustainability: Community Outreach
Community Outreach

At GOJO, we actively support the health and well-being of others within our areas of influence. From products that help reduce illness-causing germs to community support and donations, in the U.S.A., we’re making sure our impact goes beyond our product offerings and affects people in many positive ways.

Job Support for the Visually Impaired
We're pleased to partner with Travis Association for the Blind in Austin, Texas. Travis is a non-profit organization that provides employment for the visually impaired. GOJO manufactures and markets its SKILCRAFT® brand of instant hand sanitizer. This relationship allows us to create employment opportunities for the blind, while expanding the reach of our well-being solutions.

Direct Financial Support
GOJO proudly donates to public health-related issues, community agencies, educational institutions and other non-profit organizations that share our vision for a better tomorrow.

Product Donations
The American Red Cross has received donations of PURELL Instant Hand Sanitizer from GOJO during such times of natural disaster as the Gulf Coast oil spill cleanup and the 2011 earthquake recovery effort in Japan.

In 2006, GOJO received the Circle of Humanitarian Award in recognition of the donation of nearly $1 million in hand hygiene products. This award honors companies and individuals whose contributions provide lifesaving support through Red Cross programs.

Donation of Meeting Space
We're happy to periodically make the GOJO corporate headquarters in downtown Akron Ohio available, rent-free for worthwhile community events and causes.

Encouragement of the Participation of our People
Many GOJO employees donate their time and effort to make a difference in the community. Additionally, many of our leaders have taken advisory roles with local universities and civic organizations. The passion of our people for contributing to society in ways that match their talents is part of our mission to create a stronger community.

Workplace Sustainability

Compassion and social awareness have been a part of GOJO from the beginning. We’re committed to creating a welcoming environment for our employees – from work life balance to providing snacks for our employees, we’ve gone to great lengths to provide a supportive, constructive workplace.

Food for Thought
From the beginning, our founders, Goldie and Jerry Lippman set the tone for workplace sustainability when they started bringing peanut butter and bread for employees to snack on. By sharing their table with these first employees, the Lippmans made it clear that social sustainability was one of their core values. Today, GOJO offers other snacks and amenities to employees, along with break rooms and outdoor spaces, to allow our employees to relax and feel comfortable when they’re away from their desks.

Healthy, Happy Employees
The GOJO Workplace Wellness Program was introduced in March, 2006 to help reduce the spread of illness-causing germs in the workplace. Each work station is provided with a bottle of PURELL® hand sanitizer, along with sanitizing stations, featuring PURELL® Surface Disinfectant, throughout the building.

In April 2010, we were proud to introduce PURELL Green Certified Instant Hand Sanitizer as the world’s first green certified instant hand sanitizer – and to commemorate the event, we distributed the new, environmentally-friendly formulation to all our U.S.A. employees.

Good Works at Work
Throughout the year, GOJO offers employees the opportunity to purchase GOJO® and PURELL® products below cost. The proceeds from these sales go directly to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, located near our corporate headquarters in Akron, Ohio. In addition to being very popular with employees, this is a great opportunity to raise thousands of dollars to help feed our local community.

Finding Balance
A sustainable workplace goes beyond community service by creating a positive environment for all our employees. GOJO offers several programs and policies to ensure our employees can make the most of their time here – and outside the workplace.

From our Employee Assistance Plan, which helps employees facing personal challenges, to on-site health & wellness fairs, we do our best to make life better for our workers, every day. Our healthcare plan includes 100% coverage for wellness physicals and supports positive lifestyle changes, like quitting smoking. Additionally, our educational assistance program and retirement savings plans allow employees to pursue their lifelong goals and plan for the future.
