John (Jeb) Bachman

Retired Finance Leader, PWC

John (Jeb) Bachman served as the Chief Operating Officer of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ $4.2 billion U.S. audit practice, before retiring in 2015. For 26 years, he also worked with corporate clients across many industries as an Audit Partner. He has deep experience with retail, business services, real estate, industrial manufacturing, publishing, technology, and healthcare companies, as well as private equity firm portfolio entities from acquisition to IPO.

As U.S. Assurance Operations Leader, Jeb was responsible for all operational functions of the U.S. audit practice – representing over 50% of PwC’s revenue. He led over 1,100 partners and 13,000 employees and served as an executive in charge of multiple national advisory business units.

Prior to that, Jeb was PwC’s U.S. Strategy Leader for three years. He created a new strategic planning process across the complex $8 billion PwC organization and introduced the firm’s first “balanced scorecard” to assess and improve performance.

As an Audit Partner, Jeb worked with a variety of clients and business models and was exposed to myriad business challenges, complex accounting matters, and significant merger and acquisition activity. He participated frequently in boardroom discussions with client companies and had close interactions with many Audit Committee Chairs.

Jeb serves or has served as a member of the Board of Directors of five public companies. He is Chair of the Audit Committee and member of the Nom/Gov Committee of The Children’s Place; Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee of Grocery Outlet; was Chair of the Audit Committee of Recharge Acquisition Corp.; was a member of the Audit and Finance Committees of WEX Inc.; and was one of two members of the Special Litigation Committee of SCANA.

Jeb also served in a variety of leadership roles on the Board of Trustees of Bucknell University for over 15 years.
