Dr. Dawn Yeomans joined GOJO Industries in 2020, having spent more than 15 years supporting product development and advancing science and technology at leading FMCG companies including Procter & Gamble and Unilever. In her role at GOJO, Dr. Yeomans is responsible for new product innovation – ensuring GOJO continues to deliver market-leading, superior hygiene solutions to uniquely meet our customers’ needs. Dr. Yeomans holds a BSc. degree in Biochemistry, MSc. degree in Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, and PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences. Have you ever wondered what all those ingredients are on the label of a hand sanitizer bottle? It’s easy to see that the main “active” ingredient (the ingredient that kills germs) in alcohol-based hand sanitizers is alcohol (like ethanol or ethyl alcohol). And, since it’s the main ingredient, it is the majority of what is in the bottle. (Effective hand sanitizers have an alcohol content between 60% and 95%.)

Tips to Prevent Norovirus Outbreaks in K-12 Schools

Schools are common settings for spreading germs and illnesses, particularly during the cold winter months when people spend more time inside. While the flu and RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) seem to have peaked for this season, norovirus and other "stomach bugs" are wreaking havoc on K-12 schools. A few elementary schools have even been in the U.S. news recently with norovirus outbreaks, some even canceling school for a few days.
