David Macinga, PhD, is the Product Development & Regulatory Affairs Vice President at GOJO Industries. Dr. Macinga has extensive pharmaceutical drug discovery and antimicrobial product development experience. His areas of expertise include OTC topical antiseptics, surface disinfectants, antibiotic and biocide mechanisms of action and resistance, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and microbiological methods development. He has been with GOJO since 2003, developing new and innovative antimicrobial and antiviral skin hygiene products. He moved into his current role in 2019 and leads a team of 60 scientists and regulatory specialists responsible for developing and commercializing hand hygiene solutions, topical antiseptics, and surface disinfectants for domestic and global markets. His overall responsibility includes formulation development, clinical microbiology, analytical chemistry, package testing, regulatory affairs and product safety. He is currently engaged in industry efforts to provide additional safety and efficacy data to support finalization of FDA regulations governing skin antiseptics used in healthcare and consumer settings. Dr. Macinga is widely published since 1995 in the areas of antimicrobial resistance and hand hygiene.
Dr. Macinga received his B.Sc in Biology from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Microbiology from Case Western Reserve University.
